Arsenal appear to be moving a step closer to completing the signing of Chelsea star Noni Madueke.
The Blues forward emerged as a transfer target for the Gunners earlier this summer and is now closer to securing a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Madueke was part of the Chelsea squad that travelled to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup, but was granted permission to return to England to finalise a move to Arsenal.
An initial fee worth £48.5mllion has been agreed between Arsenal and Chelsea, with add-ons taking the deal up to £52million.
Now, a fresh update has emerged about Arsenal’s quest to sign Madueke, with a deal seemingly close to completion.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Madueke will undergo a medical to become an Arsenal player on Monday. The report also states that the England international will sign a five-year contract until 2030 to become the newest member of the Gunners squad.
Arsenal are understood to be aiming to complete a deal in time for Madueke to be part of the squad that travels to Singapore for their pre-season tour.
The Gunners will make the trip to Asia on July 19, with football.london understanding that the club are working to complete the signing of Madueke with that schedule in mind.
Arsenal’s first pre-season friendly of the summer will see them take on AC Milan in Singapore on July 23. The Gunners will be hoping that Madueke is involved in that fixture, as the club steps up their preparations for their return to Premier League action.
Should Madueke complete a move to Arsenal he would join Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard in moving to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are also working on a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.
