Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber is set to undergo ankle procedure which will see him miss the last game of the Premier League season, football.london understands.
Timber hasn’t played since the Gunners lost 2-1 against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final earlier this month. Reports have stated that the Dutchman has played through a pain barrier for the last few months.
It’s understood that Timber will have a minor procedure to solve the ankle issue. football.london understands that the surgery is not expected to interrupt his pre-season ahead of the 2025/26 season.
After missing a large portion of his debut season in England, Timber has been a key part of Mikel Arteta’s team this campaign. Only five players have missed more games than the former Ajax man with him proving to be pivotal with his versatility to play at left-back and right-back.
Timber will become the latest Arsenal player to undergo a procedure during the season after Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu all were forced to miss action.
Ben White has recently returned from his own injury in recent weeks and is expected to start in the final game of the season at Southampton. Arteta will hope that Timber recovers from his surgery to be fit for the club’s pre-season schedule.
The Gunners head to Asia this summer to take on AC Milan (July 23) and Newcastle United (July 27) as part of their preparations. They will then conclude their tour with a north London derby in Hong Kong on July 31.
