Arsenal could be set for a chance to make a move on Alexander Isak this summer.

The Gunners have been linked with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins in the last year, with summer moves for Gyokeres and Sesko looking to be on the cards for some time.

But a move for Isak has always looked the more attractive prospect, with the Swedish star being the ideal profile to help fire the Gunners to their ultimate goal of lifting the top trophies.

However, prising the striker from Newcastle United would be no mean feat – especially when it comes to a transfer fee. The Magpies would be sure to ask for a Premier League record fee for the 25-year-old, and want to keep him after qualifying for the next season’s Champions League.

The Gunners do have funds for a big summer should they wish to push the boat out, though. Successive qualifications for Europe’s biggest competition in addition to a deep run last season means they will be able to spend more money.

And an opportunity to sign Isak may never be better, as the Telegraph state that Newcastle are to open formal talks over a move for Brighton striker Joao Pedro. The 22-year-old is apparently valued at around £60million by the Seagulls.

There is apparently growing confidence that a deal can be reached between the two clubs, though Chelsea are also said to be interested in the Brazilian star.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is said to be a big fan of the Brighton striker, and was set to make a move before the club managed to sign Isak for £63million back in 2022.

The club are said to see Joao Pedro as cover and competition for Isak, but a sealed transfer would certainly soften the blow if Arsenal were to make a move for the Swedish star. Whether or not they choose to capitalise and make another big-money move in the vein of Declan Rice remains to be seen.
