Arsenal handed dream Dusan Vlahovic scenario amid Viktor Gyokeres transfer problem

Long-standing Premier League target Dusan Vlahovic could be on the move this summer, with Juventus reportedly ready to propose a contract termination deal for the Serbian striker.

Vlahovic, 25, made the switch to the Italian heavyweights in January 2022 after strong links with Arsenal. The rumour mill has continued to churn out speculation about a potential move to England, and with Vlahovic entering the final year of his contract, the transfer chatter has reignited this summer.

While no solid transfer developments have emerged so far, it appears increasingly likely that Vlahovic will bid farewell to Turin in the coming weeks. Italian media reports suggest that Vlahovic is not open to discussions about extending his contract and is even willing to sit out the entire 2025-26 season to secure his €12million (£10.3million) salary, which Juve are keen to spread over an extended period.

With a mutual agreement looking unlikely, Juventus are now reportedly gearing up to offer Vlahovic a deal to terminate his contract a year early, reports the Mirror. Whether Vlahovic would entertain such an offer remains to be seen, especially if he’s set on receiving the full amount due for the last year of his contract. However, the prospect of becoming a free agent might appeal to the striker.

Given the number of top European clubs on the hunt for a new forward this summer, Vlahovic’s availability could put him in a position to demand higher wages and potentially a hefty signing-on fee. Although it appears that Arsenal have moved on from Vlahovic, their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly hanging in the balance. As of now, they and Sporting have failed to agree on a transfer fee for the prolific Swedish international.

If a deal doesn’t materialise, Arsenal may have to go back to the drawing board. However, Manchester United have recently been linked with Vlahovic and are in need of a new No.9. With limited funds available at Old Trafford this summer, the chance to sign a player of Vlahovic’s calibre would likely be appealing if he and Juventus decide to part ways in the coming weeks.

Arsenal have also been linked with Benjamin Sesko this window and a lot will likely depend on if they can reach an agreement with Sporting over a fee for Gyokeres. The striker problem at Emirates Stadium, for now, remains unsolved.
