With just one game of the season remaining, eyes are turning to the transfer window. Arsenal’s win over Newcastle on Sunday afternoon guaranteed a spot in the Champions League for Mikel Arteta’s side next season.
A second place finish also looks likely. But Arsenal will want to go one better in the 2025/26 season.
To do that, the club could be active in the upcoming summer transfer window. One of the priorities will be a central striker, with the Gunners having to cope without a natural centre-forward for the last few months due to injuries.
Viktor Gyokeres has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. The Sporting CP striker has impressed with his goalscoring record in the Portuguese league.
He’s not the only player to be linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of the summer window. With that in mind, here is a look at a couple of the latest stories doing the rounds at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal eye £68m transfer
Arsenal are considering triggering the £68 million release clause in the contract of Crystal Palace hero Eberechi Eze, according to GIVEMESPORT.
Eze scored the only goal of the game against Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon as Palace won their first major trophy. The report says that the Gunners are now thinking of stepping up their interest in the England international, but they could face competition from Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham.
It is reported that Eze has a £68 million release clause that will become active later in the summer.
FL says : Eze has impressed since joining Palace from QPR in 2020. He showed his worth with the decisive moment in the final against City.
Amid some uncertainty over the future of Leandro Trossard, who will have just one year remaining on his contract in the summer, beating their rivals to the signing of Eze would be clever by Arsenal.
The winger has shwin he has the quality to be able to step up and could be a key player for Arsenal.
Club stance in six-way race
Arsenal are one of six clubs showing an interest in Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku this summer, with the Blues’ transfer stance outlined.
According to the Sun , Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, West Ham, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are all in the race for the Frenchman who is expected to leave Chelsea this summer.
The report says that the player is keen to move to a Champions League team. It adds that Chelsea would prefer to see Nkunku move to a club outside of the Premier League with the club knowing that selling him to a rival could be ‘risky’.
FL says : Nkunku has struggled to make too much of an impact at Chelsea, but has not been given that much game time by Enzo Maresca this season. He has shown occasionally that he has the quality, but it could be a question of consistency.
With Chelsea maybe unwilling to do business with a team they see as rivals then it may be a difficult deal for Arsenal to do.
