Arsenal are expected to splash the cash this summer, with Mikel Arteta eager to take his side to the next level. The Gunners looked well-positioned to compete on all fronts at the start of the season, but a flurry of injuries to key players dented any chances of winning a major trophy.

So, this summer, Arteta wants to ‘add goals, creativity and numbers’ to his squad. football.london understands that the Spaniard is keen to get business done quickly, with the hope that Arsenal can move swiftly in the opening weeks of the transfer window.

The north Londoners, as well as every other club in the English top-flight, will be eligible to sign players from June 1 until June 10. Then, once the FIFA Club World Cup finishes, the transfer window reopens on June 16 before closing on September 1.

So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal news and transfer gossip.

Zubimendi set for Arsenal medical

According to the BBC, Martin Zubimendi is set to undergo a medical ahead of a potential transfer to Arsenal. The report claims that all the relevant paperwork in relation to the Real Sociedad midfielder’s move to the Emirates Stadium have been signed.

It’s said that all parties are ‘relaxed about the scheduling of the medical’, but there’s a desire to wrap up the deal swiftly. The BBC add that Arsenal have already agreed the payment structure of the Ā£51 million release clause with the Spanish club.

football.london says: “Arsenal will send a really good message to the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Nico Williams if they can secure Martin Zubimendi’s signature in the coming days. It is good, swift business that shows the Gunners aren’t messing about.”

Arsenal eye Bayern Munich star

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal have identified Leroy Sane as a potential target ahead of the summer transfer window. The report claims the Gunners have made inquiries as the Bayern Munich star assesses his options.

Sane sees his contract at the Allianz Arena expire next month, making him available on a free transfer. The Telegraph claim the Gunners are one of several clubs to have asked about the conditions of a deal.

With Raheem Sterling returning to Chelsea, Arsenal have space for a new winger. Arteta worked closely with the Germany international when his was part of Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff at Manchester City a few years ago.

football.london says: “Leroy Sane could be a really good addition to the Arsenal squad, so long as the Gunners still go out and sign a world-class striker and a top left winger. He’d provide strong cover for Bukayo Saka.”

RB Leipzig set Sesko price tag

According to German outlet BILD, RB Leipzig are willing to open negotiations for Benjamin Sesko at €70m (Ā£59m), but they’re hoping to rake in as much as €100m (Ā£84m).

The report claims that Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing the Slovenia international, but they face tough competition from Juventus and AC Milan. It’s said that the Gunners are currently leading the race for his signature, and they’ve ‘positioned themselves’ to wrap up a deal.

football.london says: “I like Benjamin Sesko and I’m sure he’ll grow to be a top striker one day, but that price tag is too high! I wouldn’t blame Arsenal if they turned to Liam Delap for Ā£30m, so they can get ready-made quality on the wing in Rodrygo or Rafael Leao.”
