Arsenal new transfer plan emerges amid £68m Eberechi Eze twist

Arsenal are looking forward to the 2025/26 season with high hopes of finally securing the Premier League title after several near misses.

Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta has previously admitted that the 24/25 campaign was a challenging one for his team, given their lofty ambitions. Despite another second-place finish in the Premier League, they fell significantly short of champions Liverpool.

But there is a palpable sense of optimism at Emirates Stadium this summer, with the belief that the current summer transfer window could provide the necessary additions to end Arsenal’s league title wait. One such recruit is Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres, who made the switch from Sporting last weekend.

Further new faces include midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, who the Basque side could not hold onto due to a €60 million (£51m) release clause in his contract. Brentford skipper Christian Norgaard has also joined the ranks, arriving for £15m, along with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Below are some of the latest Arsenal headlines along with a view on each one…

Eze latest

Eberechi Eze’s £68 million release clause reportedly expires on Friday at midnight. The radio station talkSPORT claims that the Gunners are aware of the situation and have already informed Crystal Palace they have no plans to trigger it.

The report adds that it is possible an outgoing is needed prior to Arsenal making a bid for Eze. The Gunners have delayed making a formal bid for the 27-year-old as they assess their attacking needs.

Isaac Seelochan of football.london says:“Eze would be a superb signing for Arsenal and it feels like only a matter of time before a deal is done.

“The Gunners needed more firepower and they got that with the additions of Gyokeres and Madueke. Throwing Eze into the mix and Arsenal will be looking extremely strong going into the new campaign.”

Jesus claim

Arsenal are planning to accept a Gabriel Jesus offer in the final month of the transfer window, according to claims by former Man United scout Mick Brown.

“Arsenal are going to accept an offer for Jesus if their price is met,” he told Football Insider. “I think his best days are behind him, but he was still a reliable squad player at Arsenal until now.

“He hasn’t pulled up any trees, but he’s done alright. I think the thing for Arsenal has been that they need better than ‘alright’ and that’s why they’ve now gone out and spent all that money on Gyokeres.

“With him and Havertz there, it’s difficult to see where Jesus would fit in their plans. I hear there’s interest from a few teams in the Premier League, so that would be a good option.”

Isaac Seelochan of football.london says: “It feels like Jesus’ days at Arsenal are now numbered after Gyokeres’ arrival. Unless he is prepared to have a cameo appearance next season, it makes sense for him to move on.”
