Arsenal have been suggested as a potential destination for Marcus Rashford should he leave Manchester United this summer. The England international endured a challenging 2023/24 campaign with just eight goals and five assists from 43 appearances in comparison to the 40 goal contributions he managed in the previous campaign.
Rashford’s drop in form also greatly affected Man United with manager Erik ten Hag facing heavy sack pressure throughout the campaign. Ultimately Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos made the decision to keep him in charge and offer him a new contract.
With Ten Hag set to stay, Rashford could find himself back on the fringes of United’s starting XI, though he could avoid that by sealing an exit from his boyhood club. Arsenal have been linked to making a sensational swoop for Rashford with Mikel Arteta showing an eagerness in the past to sign underperforming players.
12 months ago Arsenal signed Kai Havertz following his challenging spell at Chelsea but the Germany international has found his form at Emirates Stadium. William Gallas is among those who belive Rashford should leave Man United, while also hinting Arsenal would be great for the England forward.
Speaking to Lord Ping, the ex-Chelsea and Arsenal defender said: “Marcus Rashford definitely needs to leave Manchester United. If you look at his nine seasons at Old Trafford he has only had two seasons at his highest level, 2019/20 and 2022/23.
“It looks like he’s had some issues with the manager and he’s now out of the England squad so I think it’s time for him to refresh his career. He has to play for the new club, he needs that new challenge.

“Could Marcus Rashford join Arsenal or Chelsea? Anything can happen in football. I don’t know if Chelsea can give him the opportunity to refresh himself, he has to think things through. But looking at his time in the Premier League, he has never scored 20 goals in a season, the best strikers have always done that.”
