All Arsenal eyes will be on Viktor Gyokeres over the next few weeks ahead in anticipation of any hints of his future at Sporting CP ahead of the summer transfer window.

The striker has been made the Gunners’ No.1 summer transfer priority with Mikel Arteta expected to sign a new striker for the 2025/26 season. Gyokeres, who turns 27 next month, is one of Europe’s most prolific strikers after scoring 95 goals in 100 appearances in Portugal.

Sporting CP are understood to have accepted the prospect of losing their star player with reports suggesting they have already got plans in place to replace the Sweden international. Earlier this week, the Mirror reported that Arsenal would have to pay only £60million to sign Gyokeres this summer.

There is believed to be an agreement for Gyokeres to leave Sporting if the £60m demand is met by an interested club. Should a bidding war commence, that price could increase with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United previously linked.

Following the somewhat breakthrough in the Gunners’ hope of landing the striker, Gyokeres has continued his fine form in Portugal. The 26-year-old scored eight goals in April to keep Leoes above rivals Benfica in the league table, on goal difference, ahead of the final game of the season.

Following his impressive month, Gyokeres was named the Liga Portugal Forward of the Month award. Sharing the news on Instagram, Sporting CP put: “With 8 goals in the month of April, Viktor Gyokeres was elected the Liga Portugal Betclic Forward of the Month.”

Gyokeres shared the announcement on his own personal Instagram page.

On Saturday, Gyokeres and Sporting take on Vitoria de Guimaraes in the final game of the season knowing they will retain their title if they win and maintain their three-goal advantage over Benfica, who face Braga away.
