Arsenal to make surprise transfer announcement as shock £16m move highlights Andrea Berta plan

While the start to the transfer window was somewhat predictably slow, the end of June has been anything but what was expected. Three deals agreed and a fourth potentially pending have shocked supporters.

Andrea Berta’s approach to transfer dealings has gone down a storm as the holistic strategyfootball.london reported on before the window opened comes to fruition. Talks are taking place with multiple profiles for the different positions the club and Mikel Arteta want to strengthen.

The aforementioned fourth signing who could be joining Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga at the club next season is Spaniard Cristhian Mosquera. Arsenal have had an initial bid turned down and are expected to move back in for another round of talks to find an agreement as the player has just one year left on his deal in Spain.

While there had been some light suggestions earlier in the year of Mosquera being a player of interest to Arsenal, the news of the talks and the subsequent £16million offer materialised quickly and came as something of a surprise. The same can be said for the move for Norgaard which was also negotiated quickly.

While links were predicted to be widespread and varied, both these potential moves show that fans should be prepared for surprises during the window. While it is well-known that both Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are the club’s main two striker targets, should a deal not be agreed upon then again it is possible a surprise candidate could emerge.

The same goes for the winger role. Rodrygo has been heavily linked and is known to be a dream target and seen as a potential market opportunity should he become available, Eberechi Eze is another player of known interest to Arsenal. Yet the club are certainly assessing and even perhaps having talks with others with Berta leading the charge.

July is where the business across the sport is expected to accelerate and supporters should be ready to see names crop up that no one has so far discussed. Two months remain in the window which is plenty of time for “a madness” as the phrase amongst the Arsenal fan base goes.
