There was just one rule this bride had on her wedding day – and was left fuming as her husband broke it, and has now filed for divorce after being married for just one day

A furious bride has been told to rethink her decision to divorce her husband after his cruel act on their wedding day.

Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life, and after meticulous planning, you’d hope it all went smoothly – but one bride was devastated when her new beau broke the “one rule” she had for their big day. Now, she wants a divorce after leaving their wedding early.

Despite being told by her friends and family to rethink her decision to call the marriage off after just a day, the furious bride won’t listen.

She admitted she “never cared” about getting married, but once her boyfriend proposed they decided to “go for it” and organise the wedding. She stated how they took on half of the planning each and said she was “pretty reasonable” about compromises about what he would want.

However, she said she only had one hard-and-fast rule – and was devastated that he broke it on their wedding day which has now meant she has already filed for a divorce after being married for just a day. The bride stated that the rule was that he wasn’t to “rub cake in my face at the reception”.

She claimed in an anonymous letter to agony aunt Ask Prudence that he’d grabbed her by the back of her head and “shoved” her head down into the cake. She alleged the cruel joke was planned as he had a “bunch of cupcakes as backup” and in her letter she further detailed: “I left. The next day I told him we were done. I am standing by that. The thing is that over the holidays EVERYONE has gotten together to tell me I should give him a second chance.”

She claimed everyone is telling her she’s overreacting, despite suffering from claustrophobia – but said she panicked when her head was “shoved into a cake and held there”. She also said everyone has told her to “not give up at the first hurdle”.

“I don’t want to, but everyone is so united and confident in their assurance I am making a terrible mistake that I wonder if they are right,” she concluded.

The response from the agony aunt was that the bride has to “listen to yourself” and called his behaviour a red flag. The advice further said: “Make a mental note about which of your loved ones don’t seem to value your happiness, and continue with your divorce.”
