Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka played a big part in England’s 1-0 win over Serbia in their Euro 2024 opener on Sunday night as they kicked off their campaign with a win.

Saka provided the assist for Jude Bellingham to score the only goal of the game in the first half. The Three Lions were put under pressure in the second period but held on to take all three points and finish the day at the top of group C.

But Saka’s contribution didn’t stop French TV getting him mixed up with Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi during the post-match interviews. A still from French broadcaster TF1 shows Guehi being interviewed, but with the graphic below showing Saka’s name and number.

The centre-back was one of the players, alongside Saka and Bellingham who was praised for his performance against Serbia. The three have been picked out by pundits, but one set of player ratings in particular caught Arsenal fans’ attention.

Fotmob handed Saka a rating of 6.9 out of 10, the joint worst rating in the team, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold. In comparison, Phil Foden, who played on the other side of the pitch to Saka was given a rating of 7.4 out of 10.

Bellingham was named as man of the match by the website with a score of 8.4. Guehi was given a score of 7.2, the lowest of all of the back four.

Despite the lower than expected rating, Saka will look to continue impress when England are back in action on Thursday. The Three Lions take on Denmark at the Deutsche Bank Park in a 5pm kick-off.

Gareth Southgate’s team know that a win would see them confirm a place in the knockout stage of the tournament with one game left to play. England play Slovenia in the final group game on Tuesday, 25 June.
