Cause of death of BBC presenter who died aged just 32 revealed

The cause of death of a young BBC presenter who suddenly died has been revealed. Friends and colleagues were left stunned at the passing of BBC Scotland presenter Nick Sheridan at the age of just 32.

The award-winning star’s death was revealed on Thursday morning by the BBC, announcing that Nick had died after a ‘short illness’, the Record reported. Gary Smith, Head of News and Current Affairs, said: “Nick has been a wonderful colleague. He was a hugely talented journalist, presenter and author and one of those rare people who light up the lives of everyone around them. Our hearts go out to his parents, to his partner and to all his family and friends.”

Following his sad passing, Nick’s loved ones, friends and co-workers have paid tribute. His friend and fellow presenter Connor Gillies said: “A uniquely talented broadcaster, writer and journalist but above all a throughout decent, funny, thoughtful pal who was great fun. An absolute pleasure knowing Nick. He thought of everyone before himself.”

Amy Irons, who hosts BBC Scotland’s news channel, added: “Absolutely devastated. The world has lost one of its brightest human beings and journalism has lost one of the most talented people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. We are all going to miss you so much Nick.”

Lewis Main, who was helped by Nick early in his career, said: “This is so so sad. Nick became part of my life during my final stages at university and was a huge help to me before I got my first job at the BBC, for that I am forever grateful. My condolences go out to his family and closest friends.”

According to reports, Nick died from a brain aneurysm and he’d been on a run before he suddenly collapsed from a suspected aneurysm after being admitted to hospital the week before. Tributes have continued to flood in for Nick, with one sharing: “Can’t believe what I am reading this morning. My thoughts are with all of Nick’s family and friends. Just devastated.” Another added: “Nick seemed like such an incredible person and talent. So sad to hear this shocking news. He was taken far too young.”

A third shared: “Devastating news. My love goes out to Nick’s family and friends at this horrible time,” with a fourth writing: “I had the pleasure of meeting Nick a number of years ago and he was so wise beyond his years with a magic sparkle in his eyes and a passion for his job. Amazing writer. He’ll be missed.”
