Young Chelsea midfielder Leo Castledine is set to make a move to the Championship this summer.

The England Under-19 international, who came through the ranks at AFC Wimbledon before joining Chelsea, is keen on securing regular first-team football elsewhere. Despite making his senior debut for the Blues in last year’s Carabao Cup semi-finals, the 19-year-old is ready for a permanent exit with several Championship clubs showing interest, reports the Mirror.

An attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing, Castledine had an impressive loan spell at Shrewsbury Town in League One this season until a back injury cut short his campaign in February. He managed to make 26 appearances and scored twice, with his goals coming against Leyton Orient and Mansfield Town.

Chelsea, who signed Castledine in March 2020 when he was just 14, are expected to be busy in the transfer window with several players coming in and going out. Castledine, son of former Wimbledon midfielder Stewart Castledine, signed his first professional contract with the Blues in the summer of 2022.

As part of their end-of-season clear-out, Chelsea are likely to offload several players, including those who spent the 2024-25 season out on loan.

Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Armando Broja could all be heading for the exit door at Stamford Bridge if the right offers come in. Meanwhile, Chelsea are keen to bolster their attacking options with Enzo Maresca’s side linked with Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap.
