Chelsea are one of many Premier League clubs looking to sign a striker in this summer’s transfer window. Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko are just a few names strongly linked to moves with the Blues likely to sign one of those.
Nicolas Jackson quite clearly needs some help with the 23-year-old having had no real time to adapt to new surroundings. His red card against Newcastle also means he will miss the opening day of the season, furthering the need for the Blues to sign a striker.
Arsenal appear to have their eyes firmly on Gyokeres while Newcastle’s asking price for Isak could be too steep, even for Chelsea. The other three options will be seriously considered however, with Hugo Ekitike and Jonathan David two lesser known alternatives.
With all of that being said, football.london has taken a detailed look at the latest reports surrounding those strikers linked to Stamford Bridge moves.
Juventus in for Osimhen
According to Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto, Juventus are very interested in signing Osimhen with the Italian giants willing to bid anywhere between £63million (€75m) and £67.3million (€80m).
He has noted however, that Napoli do not want to sell to a direct rival as talks, unlike with Chelsea, also yet to begin.
football.london says: Chelsea seemingly remain in pole position for Osimhen despite Juventus’ stance becoming clear.
Several of the other options are younger and not quite proven, but Chelsea know exactly what they will be getting from Osimhen, as evidenced by his display for Galatasaray against Tottenham in the Europa League this season.
The impact on Jackson could also be huge as it will take some serious weight off his shoulders. Napoli are far more likely to sell him to a foreign club and given their existing relationship, following the deal for Romelu Lukaku, the advantage should quite clearly be Chelsea’s if they want it.
Man United ‘close’ to Delap transfer
Chelsea making a move for Delap could soon be off the table with Sky Sports claiming that the 22-year-old joining Man United is “very close”.
It has also been claimed that he may be waiting to see if they win the Europa League and thus will be playing Champions League football next season but regardless of that, the £30million relegation clause in his Ipswich Town contract will almost certainly be activated.
football.london says: Chelsea will have to work quickly if they are to sign Delap with United making their intentions perfectly clear.
At that set price, it is no surprise an early summer move is likely to be sealed especially as Delap has scored an impressive 12 goals in a struggling team.
Considering the clause in his contract, it is possible that a number of clubs activate it with the decision then Delap’s on where he would prefer to go. The Blues finishing in the top five and Tottenham beating Man United in the Europa League final, will help their case if he ends up being the striker of choice.
