Hello and welcome to the dedicated football.london liveblog for all things Chelsea. The Blues kick off their pre-season against Wrexham overnight but it’s still transfers which are the main point of interest.
Trevor Chalobah is a big talking point at Stamford Bridge and beyond right now after he was omitted from the US tour. Despite suggestions the 25-year-old wants to force his way back into the reckoning, Manchester United – and other clubs – have been linked with a move for the discarded centre-back.
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, are thought to be chasing Conor Gallagher as the Blues monitor Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney – among others – in their search for a new forward. Nico Williams and Samu Omorodio are two further targets.
A goalkeeper is also being looked at an Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen may well be that man. What the future holds for Djordje Petrovic and others is less clear.
There is also plenty of work elsewhere to be done in order to clear up Maresca’s squad. Loans are expected for a host of young players including Alfie Gilchrist. Marc Guiu will be hoping to impress the boss in America, and Cesare Casadei plus Lesley Ugochukwu could yet leave as well.
