Conor Gallagher is not focusing on his Chelsea future right now as he prepares for England’s first Euro 2024 game at the weekend.
The Blues midfielder has just 12 months remaining of his contract at Stamford Bridge and speculation over his future is high right now. football.london understands Aston Villa made contact with Gallagher and his representatives earlier in the month to discuss a possible move to the Midlands.
Chelsea are prepared to let Gallagher leave the club this summer should someone match their £50million valuation of the midfielder. Tottenham are another club that hold a long-term interest in the England international, who is currently in Germany preparing for the Three Lions’ Euros opener against Serbia on Sunday evening.
And that is what Gallagher’s focus is on right now. Speaking in a press conference on Thursday afternoon, the 24-year-old said: “I am a Chelsea player right now. Like I said, I am thinking about England and the tournament.
“I’ve been focusing on England. This is the most important thing right now for me. I just want to start the tournament now.”
Under Mauricio Pochettino, Gallagher was one of the first names on the team sheet on a weekly basis. Gallagher made 50 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season and captained the club he has been at since the age of eight more than anyone else in the squad.

Gallagher has revealed he was “sad” when he heard that Pochettino would be leaving the club. However, the Cobham graduate is excited to work under Enzo Maresca – potentially hinting about what he wants to do regarding his future.
“Of course, like I said, he did so much for me,” Gallagher said on Pochettino and his departure. “I was sad, sad for him and the coaching staff. Really excited for the new manager coming in and working with him.”
He continued: “I’ve been playing on a consistent basis [over the last year]. I’ve just wanted to work as hard as possible to help. A lot of credit to Pochettino for giving me that opportunity to show Chelsea what I can do.”
