Daniel Levy’s Tottenham could be about to miss out on securing a long-term target, wanted by a handful of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Dubbed the ‘Swedish Messi’, Roony Bardghji is reported to have told Danish Superliga champions, FC Copenhagen that he will not renew his contract with the club, meaning he can leave for free from December 31, this year.

Nineteen-year-old Bardghji has recently recovered from an ACL injury which side-lined the winger for close to a year, despite this, he has still amassed more than 80 appearances for Copenhagen, scoring 15 times.

Former manager, Ange Postecoglou was reportedly interested in bringing the Swede to the Premier League, but, since his sacking, it is not known if the club will be able to act fast enough without a head coach to sign the player.

But now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed FC Porto as the first European side to act on their initial interest.

“FC Porto submit official bid to Copenhagen for 19-year-old talented winger Roony Bardghji,” Romano tweeted on Sunday (June 8) to his 25-million-strong X following.

“Deal not advanced yet as there are several clubs around Europe keen on Bardghji with current contract due to expire in December.”

Manchester United, Newcastle, and Chelsea have all been linked with the exciting talent, who scored the decisive goal in a thrilling 4-3 win against Manchester United in the Champions League, aged just 17, in 2023.

News on who Levy and Spurs might recruit this summer has fallen by the wayside following the controversial departure of Postecoglou, who ended the club’s 17-year trophy wait with last month’s Europa League triumph.

Despite this, and being seemingly backed by supporters, the Australian coach was dismissed by Chairman Levy after racking up 22 Premier League losses, ending up in 17th position.

The number of defeats in a single Premier League campaign is a record for any team who has not been relegated.

So, there is work to be done in the transfer market with Bryan Mbeumo briefly linked to north London but it appears the Belgian forward will move to Old Trafford in a deal worth up to £70million.

Recent reports have also stated England international, Angel Gomes, currently playing for Lille, has rejected the chance to return to England in order to continue playing in France with Marseille interested.
