Domino’s Pizza’s official Twitter account has responded to Tottenham Hotspur’s victory in the Europa League after several previous jokes towards the club.

Spurs ended their barren trophy run on Wednesday night, thanks to a 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao, Spain. Brennan Johnson’s goal just before half-time was the difference between the two sides.

As well as lifting European silverware, the win also means that Spurs will be playing in the Champions League next season. The win comes after a poor season in the Premier League, with the team sitting in 17th place in the table.

The full-time whistle in Bilbao prompted scenes of celebration, with captain Son Heung-min lifting the Europa League trophy. It also prompted the Domino’s Pizza chain to update a long-running joke they’ve had going at Tottenham’s expense.

Just a few hours before the final, the company had a billboard outside of the Tottenham Hotspur that read: “1,569,2267,300 Pizzas delivered since Spurs last won a trophy.”

They shared a picture on their official X account with a caption that read: “One day, I’ll get bored of cooking Spurs – but not today.”

A spokesperson for the company said: “We’re not taking sides, but if Spurs deliver in Bilbao, we’ll happily reset the counter to zero.”

And the company have kept to their word. Just after Spurs won the game, Domino’s posted a picture of the billboard outside of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the counter reset at zero.

The caption alongside the picture read: ““I always win things in my second year” will go down as the coldest quote of all time.” Referring to Ange Postecoglou’s claim earlier in the season.

Tottenham’s official account also responded to a separate post from the company from back in February, with the same running joke. Tottenham simply asked: “How many now lads? X”
