Arsenal have finally got their summer transfer window underway. David Raya has officially arrived on a permanent deal after spending last season on loan and the plan is now to add more names to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
It has been a relatively quiet few weeks for the Gunners so far with only one real attempt at making a splash in the market. That came in the weeks after the end of the 2023/24 campaign, over one month ago now, when they pushed for Benjamin Sesko.
A striker remains a priority for Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar. The club are also looking at signing a new midfielder too.
Not only has it been quiet on this front, Arsenal are yet to make much progress towards cutting down the squad and revamping the options for Arteta. Having relied on a small group of first-team players, an exodus of those on the outside of the main XI is on the cards.
So far it is only players who have reached the end of their contracts who have left, though. Amario Cozier-Duberry and Reuell Walters have also departed having seen their deals at the club expire.
For now it is only Raya who has come in. It leaves plenty still to be done before the window closes at the end of August. The Gunners will also have an eye on getting players through the door – both in and out – before pre-season kicks off later this month.
