The M25 in Hertfordshire heading towards Heathrow Airport has been closed on Wednesday (April 30) anti-clockwise between J17 (Rickmansworth) and J16 (M40) due to a crash which reportedly involved three lorries.
Emergency services are on the scene with traffic being diverted. There are reports of congestion tailing back as far as J19 (Watford) and for two miles down the A412 to Denham.
Online traffic site Inrix reports ‘severe delays’ on the M25 with National Highways warning drivers it is taking 70 minutes above normal travel time to get through the area.
Diversion route
Road users are advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol on road signs
- Leave the M25 at J17 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A405.
- Follow the A405 to the roundabout with the A412 and take the 2nd exit onto the A412.
- Continue on the A412 to the junction with the A40 at Denham and turn left onto the A40 towards the M40 J1.
- At the M40 J1 roundabout take the 4th exit onto the M40 northbound towards the M25.
- Follow the M40 back to the M25 J16 and rejoin the M25 anti-clockwise at J16.
