Gabriel Jesus has shared some fresh pictures of himself in the gym as the Arsenal star continues his recovery from a knee injury.
The Brazilian suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the FA Cup clash against Manchester United on January 12 and is not expected to return to action until late in 2025. The former Manchester City star was forced to undergo surgery but is now back in the gym as he bids to come back stronger than ever.
Jesus had scored seven goals in 27 appearances before sustaining the injury and was beginning to find some form. The 28-year-old’s absence coincided with Kai Havertz picking up a serious hamstring injury, which also required surgery.
It meant Mikel Arteta was forced to deploy Mikel Merino in the striker role for the final few months of the season. While the Spaniard did well, football.london understands the Gunners wish to improve their frontline this summer, with Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko linked with a move to Emirates Stadium.
Jesus, who has a contract with Arsenal until 2027, will still feel he has a massive part to play under Arteta and is working hard behind the scenes to come back fit and ready for the 2025/26 season. While many players are either with their international sides or enjoying a holiday, Jesus has been pictured in the gym.
Sharing three snaps on his Instagram account, Jesus can be seen in a Palmeiras-branded gym, presumably in Brazil. In his Arsenal training gear, Jesus is standing with his arms on his hips in one picture and then performing an upper body exercise in another. In one of the snaps, Jesus writes a pray emoji and flexed bicep emoji.
Immediately after the surgery, Jesus wrote on Instagram: “There will always be answers to everything, which we will only know later on. I believe and trust in God.”
In a separate message posted in April the striker said: “The first seven weeks of recovery are done. Working hard and improving every day, thanks to God. Step by step!”
Jesus is not expected to make his return until later this year but could still join the squad on their pre-season tour of Asia. Whether the Brazilian will be joined by a new striker by that stage remains to be seen.
