Say goodbye to orange-tinted containers that are currently gathering dust in your kitchen cupboard thanks to one woman’s cheap hack to melt away stubborn grease and food stains

If your Tupperware or old takeaway containers are looking a little worse for wear – check out this cheap but ‘effective’ hack.

Most households have a dedicated kitchen cupboard for stray lunchboxes and plastic receptacles (mainly due to our penchant for a cheeky Saturday Chinese). They are great for storing leftover food or ingredients – but are often left to gather dust due to their habit of staining.

Luckily, one woman went viral after sharing her ‘game-changing’ hack that gets rid of stubborn grease and stains in less than a minute. Plus, all you’ll need is some washing-up liquid and kitchen roll..

Taking to TikTok, user @Adikempler showed off her food container that was covered in orange grease marks. She referred to the item as Tupperware – but it appears to be a non-branded alternative to the cult product.

“So what you’re going to want to do is put a little bit of dish soap into the Tupperware then add some warm water,” she said. “Then you’re going to add a few pieces of kitchen towel and seal it up. And then get to shaking…

“Shake it pretty vigorously. I would say between 45 seconds to one minute and you’ll see once you rinse it out it’s completely clean”. The TikToker ended the video showing a transformed container that was completely free of stains.

Thousand of users rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts on the hack – with many putting it to the test on their own containers. “I just did it and it worked. Total game changer, thank you!” wrote one person.

Another agreed, commenting: “This has been the number one most helpful TikTok I’ve ever seen!” While a third added: “I legit thought this was a lie until I did it an hour ago. Yo, it worked.”

However, many accused the woman of editing the video and replacing the stained container with a new one. Others recommended using bleach and letting the powerful cleaning product sit for a while to lift any stubborn stains.
