Prince Harry hinted that he would be returning to London more often after his father King Charles was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, following his last-minute trip to the UK to see him

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been given advice on how to spend more time with King Charles, an expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been estranged from senior members of the Royal Family since they stepped down from the monarchy in January 2020, and their relationship with the royals was dealt another blow with the release of Harry’s explosive memoir Spare last year. Despite the deepening rift, Harry surprised his father last month when it was announced Charles had been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer, and he flew to London to be by his side.

However, Harry and Meghan are still at loggerheads with other members of the Royal Family, including his big brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton, and PR expert Carla Speight suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussex need to work on repairing their “humanitarian” image before trying to repair their relationship with their estranged family.

“Once they’ve succeeded in reminding people of the humanitarians and deep love that is at the heart of their relationship, they will have the opportunity to spend more time with Charles during his cancer battle,” she told The Mirror. She said “all is not lost” for Harry and Meghan, and they could see themselves regaining favour with the public after a disastrous few years. “They still have many supporters out there and the public is growing tired of the constant bashing they are getting. They don’t need a rebrand, they need to refocus the attention on what good they do,” Carla explained.

She also believes that the scandal that engulfed William and Kate following the edited photo controversy will have done nothing but positively boost the profile of Harry and Meghan. “Now that Kate and William are at the heart of the wrath of the global press and public, the timing for Harry and Meghan to focus attention on the positives in their work lives and what makes them well received amongst supporters couldn’t be any more pressing,” she added.
