Prince Harry described the sweet meeting between his two young kids, Archie and Lilibet, and their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, shortly before her death

Prince Harry and his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, had a strong bond despite the family feud that boiled over in her final years.

The Queen died in 2022 at the age of 96. Harry opened up on the late monarch’s final time she spent with his children, Archie and Lilibet, during a trip back to the UK.

A resurfaced excerpt from his memoir, Spare, which further threatened to strain his relationship with the royal family due to a number of explosive outbursts, shared a sweeter moment of his family time. Speaking about his “final visit”, Harry described how his kids behaved on the long-awaited meeting.

Writing in his book, he said: “Archie making deep, chivalrous bows, his baby sister Lilibet cuddling the monarch’s shins. Sweetest children, Granny said, sounding bemused.”

He went on to explain how their behaviour had somewhat surprised his grandmother. “She’d expected them to be a bit more…American, I think?” he continued. “Meaning, in her mind, more rambunctious.”

Queen Elizabeth’s death rocked onlookers across the world and Harry admitted it made him change the way he acted around his young family when he returned to the states following her funeral. Referring to his and wife Meghan Markle’s reaction, he said: “For days and days, we couldn’t stop hugging the children, couldn’t let them out of our sight. Though I also couldn’t stop picturing them with Granny.”

Meghan has rarely been in the UK since the death of the Queen. However, it’s thought her and Harry have enlisted the help of a top UK PR guru to try to rebuild their broken image following the royal fallout.

Meghan revealed last week that she is launching her new brand, American Riviera Orchard, and it’s thought their UK popularity is important it its success. Speaking on the latest episode of Palace Confidential, the Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English said she feels Meghan could be the key reason behind the PR decision.

“I suspect it’s also got something to do with the big plans that we’re hearing about that Meghan is going to launch this big commercial project. I presume this commercial project will have some sort of residence in this country,” she said.

American Riviera Orchard is expected to sell a wide variety of products from cookbooks to jam and homeware. While Meghan hasn’t yet confirmed the specifics, official trademark documents have shown a number of potential lines. Documents filed on February 2 by a company called Mama Knows Best, LLC based in Beverly Hills, and pending review by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, state the brand be selling a variety of items, including tableware, table cutlery, servingware, decanters, dinnerware, chargers, napkin rings, and table placecard holders.
