Airlines don’t exactly have the best reputation when it comes to their in-flight culinary offerings. From sweet treats to sarnies, each airline has their own take on what makes a good trolley, with Ryanair’s scratch card tickets setting them apart from the rest.

The cabin crew at this budget-friendly flyer are also encouraged to sell as much as they can from the cart, with a little extra cash incentive for their efforts. A staff member confided to The Mirror that they could pocket about £300 a month just by selling snacks and beverages.

They also dished the dirt on the top picks and not-so-great choices available mid-flight, admitting that “coffee and hot chocolate are actually quite good.” But when it comes to the snack selection, there’s one thing this crew member wouldn’t touch from the Ryanair cart.

The chocolate bars, it seems, are not worth the money. “Honestly, the price of a bar of chocolate onboard,” they lamented, “It’s £2.25 for a Twix. I wouldn’t go for that. I would bring my own with me.”

A Ryanair pilot also let slip a crafty tactic used by cabin crew to manage boisterous passengers. Chatting with The Mirror, the pilot revealed: “Sometimes if the passengers are being annoying then the cabin crew ask us to turn the seatbelt signs on as if there’s turbulence, just so everyone sits down and the cabin crew can relax.”
