Marks and Spencer has been on a roll with its viral fashion pieces this year, and I think this £35 dress is going to be the retailer’s next sell-out

I’m not saying I have a crystal ball, but I have correctly identified a number of Marks and Spencer pieces this year that I predicted would sell out – and I’ve been bang on the money every single time. Now, I think this £35 dress is going to be next.

In recent months, I suggested the recently restocked Cos-like quilted shoulder bag would sell out, as well as this denim trench that looks like one from Reformation and red summer ready braided bag. But as we head into the longer days and warmer weather, it’s the Cotton Rich Ribbed Bandeau Midi Dress that I think will be the next viral sensation.

Designed with a bandeau-style bodice and a bodycon fit, this dress accentuates curves in all the right places, while its buff colourway makes it look really expensive. Crafted from a cotton-rich fabric with added stretch, it’s been made with comfort in mind for the M&S Collection, which is known for its easy-to-wear wardrobe staples.

The midi length makes it casual enough to dress down for summer holidays and days out in the city, or glammed up with heels for brunch or date night. But if there’s one thing I think it’s going to look incredible with this season, it’s a denim jacket.

Unsurprisingly, this dress has already been a hit with shoppers. The high street favourite shared a snap of the dress on Instagram and the comments section has been flooded with love for the effortlessly chic number. One described it as “A stunning piece,” while another added: “Gorgeous, just seen in store, wish I had the figure to wear it.”

It’s so new-in that it’s yet to receive any online reviews from fashion fans, but that’s not stopped people from snapping it up, with some sizes already out of stock. That said, sizes 10-24 are still available, but we’re expecting them to fly off the digital shelves in the coming weeks.

This style of dress is one we’ve seen Loose Women ’s Frankie Bridge style on many occasions over the past 12 months, nodding to the 90s trend and ticking all the major style boxes. She said: “A good bandeau dress is definitely a staple piece now. They are ideal for dressing up and down. Love this camel one as it feels more casual and you could pair it with a dressier jacket and bag and some big earrings for a night out.”

Frankie’s nude dress was from River Island, and is now £15 in the sale, down from £35.

Another bandeau number she sported was from Karen Millen, with Frankie commenting: “If in doubt, wear denim! This bandeau dress has ruched corset detail around the waist, which makes it feel more dressy. Dark denim is also a fave for mine for evening wear, really flattering and doesn’t show up spills!”

I think the bandeau trend is going to remain a mainstay in the 2024 style calendar, and if you want to get ahead, you can shop M&S’ £35 soon-to-be sell-out number here.
