Meghan Markle has appeared to have been snubbed by Sophie Trudeau, whom she once counted as a friend, and it isn’t the first time the Duchess of Sussex has appeared to lose or fall out with friends
The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has had various friendships fall apart in recent years, including those with other royals, politician’s wives, actresses and seemingly close pals.
In the latest fall out, it appears Meghan has been ‘snubbed’ by the former wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Sophie, after Meghan had previously spoken about how close the pair were. This paired with incidents including no longer speaking to her former Suits co-stars, fall-outs with her former best friends and even the tension between Meghan and the Princess of Wales, has seen Meghan’s friendship circle grow increasingly more private and smaller.

Sophie Trudeau
Justin Trudeau’s ex-wife Sophie Trudeau has recently given Meghan Markle the cold shoulder, appearing to snub the Duchess of Sussex.
The Duchess of Sussex and the former wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are friends, according to Meghan, who gushed about Sophie in November 2022 on her now-defunct podcast Archetypes. She told listeners: “I’ve gone to her over the years for advice,” adding how Sophie would “send me little meditations during my pregnancy” and gave her voice notes “of encouragement”.
However it appears the friendship wasn’t reciprocated, as Sophie shared in an interview with The Times, where she said: “I know her… but we haven’t spent much time together.” But in 2020, the pair seemed rather close when they posed up a storm on a girls’ night out with Jessica Mulroney as they pouted for snaps cheek-to-cheek on a Toronto rooftop bar.
Kate Middleton
At the beginning of Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan and Kate appeared to be close and attended royal occasions together as the wives of Prince Harry and Prince William as well as alongside the royal brothers as part of ‘The Fab Four’.
However it appears that things weren’t quite so cosy behind the scenes, with Meghan and Kate often butting heads including one notable fallout during Meghan and Harry’s wedding preparations in 2018. Harry’s autobiography last year detailed the argument, as he revealed personal text messages exchanged between Meghan and Kate amid the disagreement over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress. According to Harry, Princess Kate messaged Meghan to complain that Charlotte’s dress did not fit correctly. According to the book, Kate wrote: “Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on a home.”
After an exchange back and forth where Meghan pointed out there was a tailor on standby to alter dresses for the bridesmaids, Kate’s cool response left the future Duchess of Sussex upset and Meghan was reportedly left “sobbing on the floor”.
In another entry, Harry pointed out that Kate had once “grimaced” after Meghan asked to lend her lipgloss and put some onto her fingers to use on her lips, causing the Princess of Wales to visibly shudder. Another part of his tell-all autobiography also saw Harry point out that his sister-in-law and Meghan struggled to bond initially over stereotyping which caused a “bit of a barrier”.
Jessica Mulroney
Meghan at one point was believed to be best friends with stylist Jessica Mulroney, with the fashion guru’s daughter acting as a flower girl at Meghan’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. In Meghan and Harry’s Netflix documentary series, Meghan is seen facetiming Jessica just moments before Harry proposed in the grounds of Kensington Gardens to inform her BFF that ‘it’s happening’.
However, the Duchess has appeared to distance herself from Jessica in recent years, with one potential reason for stepping away from the friendship coming after Jessica was caught up in a ‘white privilege’ race row in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.
However an inside source alleges the friendship had already ended prior to this, as they told Page Six that Meghan felt that Jessica was trying to “make a career out of the friendship.” The source explained: “The white privilege row has really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good. I don’t know what the tipping point was, but Jess has been on the outs for some time.”
Yet in September 2020, Jessica addressed the rumours of rift between her and the Duchess of Sussex. She wrote on her Instagram Stories: “I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday.”
However, the pair haven’t been sighted or engaged with each other since, alluding to a fall out or that their friendship has cooled in recent years.
Millie Mackintosh
Another fleeting friendship in Meghan’s past includes Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, with the pair meeting at a hotel event in 2015 and appearing to form a bond as the Duchess began visiting the UK in the early days of her relationship with Prince Harry. However, the friendship appeared to be short-lived. As of last May, Millie revealed that she felt ‘snubbed’ by Meghan and described her last message from the Duchess as being ‘abrupt’.
The Suits cast
Meghan also used to be close with her Suits co-stars including Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty but the friendships have fallen to the wayside with the actors no longer close with the Duchess. At the Golden Globes earlier this year, Gina Torres who played Jessica Pearson in the legal drama alongside Meghan, revealed that the Suits cast have a Whatsapp group that had been going crazy with talk of a possible spin off series. Yet when pushed by a journalist if Meghan was part of that group, Torres shut down the conversation as she revealed she ‘doesn’t have her number’.
Priyanka Chopra
Before Meghan Markle met Prince Harry, the Suits actress also counted actress Priyanka Chopra among her closest friends. The pair regularly appeared on each other’s social media, yet the friendship has appeared to cool in recent years. In February 2019, it was reported that Priyanka was ‘crushed’ when Meghan Markle didn’t attend her wedding to Nick Jonas the year before and Priyanka was noticeably absent from Meghan’s New York baby shower.
