Nelson Silva, 40, has come forward as the man behind the camera who filmed Princess Kate on the weekend at the Windsor Farm Shop – he said it was defintely Kate in the video

A dad who recorded Kate, Princess of Wales and Prince William on the weekend has rejected the “ridiculous” claims that it wasn’t really her in the clip – and said “excited” staff also recognised her.

Nelson Silva, 40, captured the moment Kate stepped outside for a quick trip to the Windsor Farm Shop on Saturday, as she walked side by side with William. The video sparked numerous conspiracy theories about her whereabouts, with many claiming the recording was of Kate’s lookalike instead.

But the father, who was out shopping for steak when he saw the royal couple, said the social media users behind the rumours are “delusional”. It comes after the body-double rumour spread like wildfire and amassed more than 12 million views on Twitter and over 11 million on TikTok.

Nelson said he is “confused” about the rumours as he has provided blatant proof. He told The Sun, who published the video: “This is a video clearly showing her and William. I saw them with my own eyes. It was a completely relaxed situation.

“What more do you need to lay off her? I thought after this was released they’d go quiet. But these people are so invested in the drama now.” He recalled that he was standing behind the couple at the meat counter when he realised who they were. He added that the staff were “excited” and “overwhelmed” when they saw Kate.

“They went to the meat section and I was stood behind them,” he said. “They were talking to staff and laughing. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but the staff seemed overwhelmed in a nice way.

“When I went to pay for my produce, the girl at the counter was so shocked she was hardly breathing. Everyone in there was very excited. It was a really nice atmosphere.”

The engineer said he initially recorded the video to send to his family, who alerted him to the rumours that she had been missing in recent weeks. He added: “I started to record as they (Kate and William) walked towards the car park. They just looked very happy and relaxed together. William was obviously protective of Kate and I quickly stopped recording because I didn’t want to make them uncomfortable.” He continued: “Kate just wanted to take a walk with her husband. She looks well. I’d say, ‘Draw a line under it now’.”
