It doesn’t come much better than a royal recommendation, which is why when when Kate Middleton was spotted wearing a pair of Sweaty Betty’s Air Taper Running Trousers, they became one of the must-have pieces of activewear to have in our wardrobe. The trousers have since sold out on the brand’s website (no surprise there!) but there are still plenty of other key pieces to shop, especially with its latest launch.

The famed fitness brand has teamed up with one of the world’s leading outdoor footwear brands, Merrell, to launch an exclusive hiking capsule collection for women that has everything you need for a day in the great outdoors.

The collection is currently available on both Sweaty Betty and Merrell’s websites and combines fashion with function to give you the outdoor activewear you need to look great whilst staying comfortable. With everything from trainers and sandals to leggings, waterproofs and trousers, the collaboration has most definitely got you covered.

One of the standout pieces from the range is the Women’s Moab Speed 2 X Sweaty Betty, £125 here, which are the perfect example of combining trending style with functional design. Although they might look like a simple pair of chunky trainers, they’re actually hiding plenty of innovative technology that keeps you safe and comfortable whilst hitting the trail.

Available in two different colourways, the trainers have TC5+ rubber that gives you great traction, as well as a foam footbed that keeps your feet comfortable. They’re also breathable and secure, with a full-length rock plate that lets you tackle any terrain.

If you fancied a pair of Kate’s sold out trousers, there’s a similar version included in the collab that you can still get your hands on. The Women’s Ascend Convertible Hiking Pant X Sweaty Betty, £95 here, have a similar tapered fit to Kate’s pair, but have plenty of extra details that make them a stand out in their own right.

They have an adjustable waistband for comfort and fit, with handy pockets on both the sides and the legs and ergonomic seams to make sure you stay comfortable at all times. Not only that but the legs also unzip and become four inch shorts, because you never know when the weather might change or you come across some deep water.

If the unpredictable weather has been holding you back from heading outside, there are also plenty of waterproofs that would work just as well on the trail as they would when worn out for brunch. The Ascend Whisper Anorak X Sweaty Betty, £155 here, comes in both a super chic neutral colourway and a bold colourful leopard print design, and is wind and water-repellant.

It also has four-way stretch, which isn’t just comfortable, but also minimises that annoying rustling sound you usuall get from waterproof jackets – definitely a winner! It even packs away into the front pocket, making it the ultimate practical and space-saving buy that you can chuck in your backpack (or handbag) when you head out the door.

Hiking is definitely set to be one of this year’s biggest activity trends, and we’re also loving Columbia’s new Boundless Trek range, to help us get out and about this spring. It features style-forward designs that come in mix-and-match earth tones, and advanced tech like waterproof-breathable protection and sun protection, moisture-wicking, rain-and-stain repellency, and comfort stretch. Just what we need to hit the trail!
