The Elizabeth line is experiencing ‘mayhem’ this afternoon (Wednesday, June 26). One passenger has even spoken of ‘abandoning ship’ just outside Paddington Station due to the electrical problems.

Transport for London (TfL) says there is no service between Abbey Wood and Heathrow/Reading while engineers fix overhead wire problems in the Ladbroke Grove area. Valid tickets are accepted on London Underground services via any reasonable route.

There are severe on the rest of the line.

National Rail says the issue is also affecting Great Western Railway services between London Paddington and Didcot Parkway / Oxford / Bristol Temple Meads / Cheltenham Spa / Worcester Shrub Hill / Worcester Foregate Street / Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen / Weston-super-Mare / Newbury / Paignton / Penzance.

The Heathrow Express is also disrupted between London Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 5. A spokesperson said: “A failure of the electricity supply is causing disruption to journeys running to / from London Paddington.

“As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised. We anticipate disruption will continue until 4pm”

@MarketBlondes posted on X at 2.04pm: “Paddington mayhem as electrical lines failure just outside the station, three trains have come in after half an hour but none gone out (I have abandoned ship)”
