Major disruption is set to affect journeys from London Euston this afternoon (Tuesday, April 2) due to a signalling fault. Network Rail has warned passengers could face cancellations or delays of up to one hour and 40 minutes.
Avanti West Coast services to Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester are among the routes affected, along with London Overground journeys from Euston to Watford Junction. The fault in the signalling system comes just after the rail lines were shut for maintenance during the four-day bank holiday weekend.
After rail companies initially said the disruption would last until 2pm, Network Rail has now confirmed journeys from the busy London station will be affected for the rest of the day.
In an apology to an affected passenger, Avanti West Coast said: “Unfortunately, due to a signalling fault at London Euston, we only have access to a small number of platforms. This is causing us to have to reduce our train services this afternoon to avoid congestion.”
