A section of the North Circular is closed in both directions with traffic queuing back to the M4 after a woman fell from a bridge. Met Police officers were called at 2.18am on Friday (August 2) to reports of a woman having fallen from a bridge over Gunnersbury Avenue, in Hounslow.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. At the scene a woman, aged 30s, was found to have fallen from the overhead bridge onto the road where she collided with a heavy goods vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Enquiries are under way to notify next of kin. The Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances of this unexpected death. A lorry driver is assisting police with their enquiries.”
The spokesperson added road closures and cordons remain in place. The A406 North Circular is closed in both directions between M4 Junction 1 (Chiswick Roundabout, Chiswick) and A4000 Gunnersbury Lane (Gunnersbury Park, Acton). As a result, there is congestion to Chiswick High Road from the M4, south back around Acton Green Common, and past Turnham Green station.
