The victim was left with chemical burns
A railway worker has been left needing eye surgery after they were allegedly squirted in the face with a chemical from a Lucozade bottle at Blackfriars station. The victim was left with chemical burns after a confrontation at the busy London station on May 17 this year.
At around 6pm, four men alighted a train from Sevenoaks and barged through the barriers. One of the men quickly became abusive after they were stopped by a railway worker and their colleagues.
The three men then returned to the ticket barriers and one of them pulled a Lucozade Sport bottle out of his jacket and squirted a clear liquid onto the worker’s face, who felt immediate pain in his eyes and lost his vision.
The group of four men ran away while the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors treated him for chemical burns.
BTP Detective Constable Victoria Callaghan said: “This was a horrific attack that has left the victim requiring eye surgery for his long-term injuries.
“An investigation into the serious assault was launched immediately and we have been exploring all lines of enquiry over several months.
“As a result, we have recently obtained clearer CCTV footage of a man we believe can assist our investigation.
