After the Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted shopping at their local Windsor farm shop, the customer who filmed them in public reveals why he stopped recording
The man who filmed the Princess of Wales in Windsor on the weekend ‘quickly stopped recording’ after capturing the royal couple on camera.
Kate and Prince William were spotted in public together for the first time since the princess’ abdominal surgery as they embarked on a casual outing close to their home in Windsor. Footage captured by a customer showed them shopping at Windsor Farm Shop, two months after Kate, 42, had abdominal surgery in a private London hospital.
Engineer Nelson Silva, 40, who came forward as the man behind the camera confirmed it was definitely Kate in the video following outlandish speculation and conspiracy theories about her whereabouts online. Nelson rejected the ‘ridiculous’ claims that it wasn’t really her in the clip – and said staff were ‘excited’ to see Kate.
The father, who was out shopping for steak when he saw the royal couple, said he initially recorded the video to send to his family, who alerted him to the rumours that she had been missing in recent weeks. He told The Sun, who published the video: “I started to record as they (Kate and William) walked towards the car park. They just looked very happy and relaxed together.”
Of the moment he decided to put his camera down, Nelson said: “William was obviously protective of Kate and I quickly stopped recording because I didn’t want to make them uncomfortable.” He continued: “Kate just wanted to take a walk with her husband. She looks well. I’d say, ‘Draw a line under it now’.”
Nelson said he was ‘confused’ about the body-double rumours, which spread like wildfire on social media with claims a lookalike had been acting as Kate.
He also said he saw them talking to staff and sharing jokes, saying it was a “nice atmosphere”
