Palmer on Chelsea row

Cole Palmer has shared his verdict on what happened in the second-half between himself, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke.

All three players wanted the penalty to put Chelsea 5-0 up but Palmer ended up taking responsibility from 12 yards and fired past Jordan Pickford.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Palmer said:

Other players wanted to take [the penalty], which is understandable because it’s 4-0. But I’m the penalty taker and I wanted to take so in the end, I took it. I think we are just trying to show everyone that everyone wants to take responsibility and stuff like that.

Maybe it was a bit over the top with the arguing and stuff, but everyone wants to win, help and stuff so it’s nothing major. We were laughing and joking about it. The gaffer has told us now.
