Meghan Markle calls in top New York photographer for new portraits amid Photoshop scandal

Meghan Markle is reported to have called in a top photographer pal to take snaps of her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, following the announcement of American Riviera Orchard

Meghan Markle called in a top New York-based photographer pal to take snaps of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, it has been claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, rarely shows off her children. But this could be about to change after it was reported that she enlisted the help of her pal, Jake Rosenberg, who has previously photographed the Duchess.

Jake worked with Meghan in the past, with the pair collaborating for shoots before she married into the British Royal Family. He is said to have snapped the now-Duchess when she was working as an actress. Meghan famously portrayed Rachel Zane in the hit US legal drama Suits.

The photographer is reported to have travelled to California earlier this month from his home city of New York, with him snapping up a storm in Montecito at the mansion where Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children reside.

Jake is reported to have taken some glamorous photographs of the Duchess with her children, as well as some shots of her on her own, while she was cooking in the kitchen – with these snaps thought to be linked to her new brand American Riviera Orchard.

According to the MailOnline’s Eden Confidential column, a friend of Meghan’s has confirmed that the photoshoot took place but insists they were “portraits for the family”, adding: “‘I would not connect those to the business.”

This comes as the Royal Family, and the Sussexes, continue to come under photo-editing scrutiny following the Princess of Wales sharing a snap on Mother’s Day that was hit with a “kill notification” after it was found it had been “manipulated”.

Since then, the Sussexes have also come under scrutiny, with a pregnancy snap and a christening snap both coming under fire with claims of alteration. Earlier this month, in relation to the snap where they announced they were expecting, the photographer of the snap unveiled the original unedited JPEG to dispel the Photoshop scandal surrounding the Sussexes following Princess Kate’s photo-editing crisis.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Misan Harriman, the photographer who has frequently snapped the Sussexes, penned: “The original Jpeg without the black and white grade,” alongside the original snap he shot of Harry and Meghan when they announced they were expecting a child.

He added: “No trees or meadows were moved or swapped, this is the image straight out of camera. Also that is a Jacaranda Tree, not a willow tree.”

And since this, the family snap from Prince Archie’s christening also came under scrutiny. Taken by fashion photographer Chris Allerton and released on July 6, 2019, it sees a baby Archie being cradled by his parents the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Also in the snap is King Charles, his wife Camilla, Prince William and Princess Kate, as well as Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, plus Princess Diana’s sisters.

Global picture agency Getty has said the portrait had been “digitally enhanced”. It is currently unclear why this has been flagged due to it showing no signs of any obvious alterations.

Amid claims that the snap “was digitally enhanced”, Mr Allerton has vehemently denied having manipulated the picture “in any way”. He told the Daily Mail that the portrait only required “very minimal tuning” to the tone and exposure. He noted how he had previously prepared his camera and lighting settings.
