A furious wife has shared how her husband woke her up in the middle of the night to clean up after their dog being sick – and then was insulted by him in the process
Being woken up in the middle of the night can be infuriating – especially when it’s to clean up after a dog.
This was the reality for one woman who was left raging after being woken up at 1:15am in the morning to clean up after their dog – despite her husband being awake and refusing to do it because of the smell.
When she initially got woken up, she thought he was concerned that the dog had become unwell. She then quickly realised he had woken her up to clean up the sick on the floor, and was not happy over the ordeal, only to then get insulted by him.
She took to the Am I Being Unreasonable thread on Mumsnet to vent about the situation and said: “My husband is up, awake sitting in the living room, having a beer and watching TV. Just half an hour ago he came upstairs and woke me up to tell me the dog had been sick on the living room floor, it stinks and there is no way he will clean it up.
“I get out of bed, go down, clean up the sick. I don’t speak, as the dogs already too excited to see me, I’m not impressed with getting woken up and I haven’t got the energy for a conversation.”
Annoyed she’s been woken up already, she claimed her husband then said to her he doesn’t know how she can clean the sick up. The post further added: “I grunt something about having no choice, he then complains that there’s no need for me to be an a*se about it. (I will note there wasn’t much sick, the dog wasn’t feeling ill in any way and didn’t need my attention.)”
She then asked if she was being unreasonable and said: “Am I being unreasonable to feel it’s rude to wake someone up just because you don’t want to clean it up yourself? I don’t enjoy cleaning it up any more than he would. He also knows I’ve not been well and really in need of some rest.
“Now here I am unable to sleep because I’m too annoyed. He never hesitates to wake me up over absolutely anything. He, however, goes in a bad mood if he gets woken up when having a nap in the middle of the day on the sofa and one of the children makes a noise!”
Fellow Mumsnet users shared their thoughts, as one slammed the husband and wrote: “Out of order. If there was lots of sick and he’d already attempted to clean it and failed and woke you to help him, I’d understand. But this is lazy. No way I’d have done it”
“He sounds like a right idiot and your dog is clearly sick of him too. Have the argument. Set the boundary. And the petty in me wants to say, ruin every sleep he has for a couple days,” a second penned.
