National Rail faced disruptions, which lasted until the early afternoon.

The disruption was between London Fenchurch Street and Barking, expected until 2.15pm.

It came after c2c, which Fenchurch Street sits on, reported ‘due to trespassers on the railway between West Ham and Barking, train services running may be delayed or revised. We apologise for the inconvenience caused’.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Plaistow Underground station at around 11.20am today (May 8) following reports of a trespasser on the tracks. Officers attended and conducted a thorough search of the area, however no trace was found.”
