Newcastle United have dropped a huge clue over the future of Alexander Isak amid Arsenal interest in signing the forward during the summer transfer window.
Even before the current 2024/25 campaign, Isak’s name has cropped up in transfer circles linking him with a move to the Emirates Stadium as Mikel Arteta’s search for a striker has continued.
Isak has scored 23 goals in the Premier League this season to take his overall tally in the division across three years to 85.
Arsenal enter the summer transfer window expected to end the issue that has haunted for them once and for all, albeit with talk about the Sweden international dampened as of late.
There is a strong chance he does not move if his current club are able to offer Champions League football next term, fend off rivals with a £150m price tag, or straight up decide they will not sell under any circumstances.
Now according to The Daily Mail, Newcastle have made their latest move in a vote of confidence that Isak will remain at St. James’ Park.
As Arsenal have already done, photoshoots have apparently taken place for the Magpies’ next range of Adidas kits for the 2025/26 campaign ahead of the major announcement unveiling the club’s new designs.
Isak is named by the Mail as being one of four players to have modelled the new kits – images that will be front and centre of marketing campaigns in the coming months – therefore there must be some implication that he will likely stay at his current club.
It is not a guarantee, but indeed a strong sign of confidence.
Now, if Arsenal were to look to Isak in one of the most ambitious moves of the summer, the same report has given a boost as it explains that the striker is set to avoid a post-season operation over muscle stiffness in the groin area.
At the moment he is labelled as ’50:50′ to take part in the final game of the season against Everton, which Eddie Howe’s side need to win to secure a place in the Champions League.
Meanwhile already secured for the European competition, the Gunners are looking ahead to next season and in the striker department have been most prominently linked with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres of late.
