A certified nutritionist wellness expert has shared her thoughts on two ‘superfoods’ she believes are overrated and four items everyone should be eating regularly

Nutrition guru Claire Sorlie has dished out her top tips for a healthier lifestyle, naming four must-have foods and two to steer clear of. The founder of Resilient Health and Wellness and certified nutritionist took to TikTok to share her expert advice.

Claire warned against the use of collagen powders and probiotic supplements, suggesting whole-food sources instead. She explained: “There are some good collagen powder brands. I just found in my clinical experience that my clients get better results with things like their hair, skin, nails, joint health when we use a whole-food source of collagen versus a powdered form. They also tend to be highly processed, have weird, funky additives, [and] can contribute to gas and bloating.”

Regarding probiotics, she said: “There are very specific instances where I use probiotic supplements with my clients. But if we’re just trying to get a daily dose of probiotics, food sources like sauerkraut are a much better option and often contain more strains of probiotics.

“Don’t need to consume a lot – with sauerkraut, you can start with just one teaspoon per day,” Claire advised. She highlighted that sauerkraut is packed with both pre- and probiotics and is more budget-friendly, reports Wales Online.

For those looking to boost their collagen intake naturally, Sorlie recommends bone broth, while raspberries are her go-to for a high-fibre snack. Sorlie also suggests Sleepytime herbal tea for sleep, saying: “These herbs listed in the ingredients will not only help you get to sleep but also stay asleep.”
