A Blackpool Tower acrobat is reported to have fallen to the floor during a stunt on the “Wheel of Death”. The crowd watching the Saturday afternoon (April 27) performance was quickly evacuated from the building following the incident, according to posters writing on X, formerly Twitter.

The “Wheel of Death” involves two or more performers standing on wheels on the end of a long arm that spins round on a central axis, reports The Mirror. Saturday’s accident happened just after 5pm when two acrobats were taking part in the show on the piece of equipment.

Members of the audience took to social media to report the incident. Nick posted on X: “In Blackpool Tower with kids watching circus when the bloke who was at top of the wheel of death fell to the ground immediately all audience was escorted out hope he is ok.”

Bazza added: “The guy landed right in front of us and came down with a fair bump. He didn’t seem critically ill, but who knows. He was in serious pain. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.”

One mother at the show with children praised staff for their “amazing” response. She went on to wish the performer a “speedy recovery”.

Another person claiming to have been at the show said on social media that the performer “lost [their] balance and fell”, and was seen “rolling around shouting in pain grabbing his shoulder”.

All people at the show were evacuated “safely and calmly”, they added. Blackpool Tower has been contacted for comment.
