Person dies on train tracks after National Rail disruption from Paddington Station

A person has died after an incident on the tracks near Combe railway station, close to Oxford. The incident closed many National Railway lines yesterday (April 28) affecting travel from London Paddington as emergency services rushed to the scene.

The scene was attended by officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) and paramedics just after 9am, but sadly the person was pronounced dead. The BTP has said that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

The incident severely affected train services from London Paddington to Hereford with cancellations, delays and train revisions until the early afternoon, after which normal service resumed.

A spokesperson for the BTP said: “Officers were called to the line near Combe railway station at around 9.09am yesterday (28 April) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
