King to resume public duties after positive cancer treatment

The talented portrait photographer who caught the tender moment between the King and Queen has long been a favourite with William and Kate.

Millie Pilkington, who is a friend of the Middleton family, snapped their personal album for their 2011 Wedding. She is so trusted she has been invited to capture the Royals intimate moments many times since including snaps of their children to mark birthdays and Father’s Day.

Her website says she specialises in pictures of “children and family”. After she snapped Kate’s wedding behind the scenes, she said it was a “dream come true” and described the couple “buzzing with happiness”.

She said they were “made for each other” and revealed how the speeches were “absolutely hysterical”. The photographer from Sherborne in Dorset was invited back behind the scenes by King Charles earlier this month on the morning of April 10th.

The new image of Their Majesties was taken in the Buckingham Palace garden and shows Her Majesty lovingly linking her arm with her husband. The picture was released as it was revealed doctors were “pleased” with Charles’s progress after “positive” cancer treatment. Charles and Camilla, earlier this month, celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary.

Talking about how long His Majesty’s treatment is expected to continue, Buckingham Palace revealed: “It is too early to say…” But they added: “His Majesty’s medical team are very encouraged by the progress made so far and remain positive about the King’s continued recovery.

The workaholic 75-year-old monarch’s public engagements will start from next Tuesday. The official statement, about the King’s return to “public-facing duties,” was released on Friday afternoon.

It said: “His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.”

The photographer’s website says: “Millie is known for doing whatever it takes to get the shot, from balancing precariously at the top of a ladder to wading through a pond.

“Her ability to capture the spirit of a moment, a child, a family, a relationship or a character gives her images an emotional truth and beauty that can be profoundly affecting.”
