Shoppers will now have the chance to shop in a brand new high street retailer, hailing from Spain, the new store is part of the same company as Zara – and is set to rival Primark
A brand new high street shop is set to open in the UK – and it’s said to be Primark’s biggest rival. It is also part of Inditex, the owner of high street favourites such as Zara, Bershka, Pull and Bear and Massimo Dutti.
Lefties may not be a well-known name in the UK, but it’s heading to us very soon. Originally from Spain, there are stores across Spain, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Morocco, the UAE, featuring trendy clothes at seriously low prices.
First opening in 1993, it was originally a Zara outlet for previous season stock, where all the Zara leftovers went, which is why it’s called Lefties.

Now planning to hit the UK, there are a few locations it could turn up in including Lakeside shopping centre in Essex, Bluewater shopping centre in Kent, fashion hub Oxford Street as well as Westfield London in White City.
Instore shoppers can find womenswear, a men’s section as well as children and baby clothes. There is also a large accessory and footwear section, and homeware, sportswear, and underwear too, making it big competition for Primark.
There is also Lefties online, but is not yet available in the UK. However the Spanish site is selling dresses for £8 and basic t-shirts for £5, compared to £12.99 tees from Zara.
Fans of the retailer call it “Zara’s Spanish twin” and Brits who have come across a Lefties while abroad have begged for it to come to the UK. One shopper took to TikTok and said: “Lefties shopping haul, we need lefties in the UK!!!”
While another said: “Shopping in Spain? Zara, Lefties & Pull&Bear are all sister brands! Lefties started as Zara’s outlet – now it’s Europe’s ultimate budget fashion store Would you shop here or still go to Zara?”
One native Spanish shopper Ashley Bautista said she can see why it will become a competitor to Primark, but said some of the clothing quality isn’t the best compared to it’s sister brands. She told Daily Mirror: “I don’t like it, but I don’t hate it because it’s affordable. Lefties does have a range with different styles, but the quality isn’t the best – it will get ruined after a few washes.”
She also noted how the sheer volume of clothes can be “overwhelming”, but added: “I think it’s got the potential to become Primark’s competition.”

It comes after Primark, has announced it will be closing a store for the first time in over a decade. The retail giant confirmed that its Dartford branch, located in The Orchards Shopping Centre, is set to shut down after Christmas. With over 190 stores nationwide, it comes as a blow to the local shoppers.
The Dartford outlet is due to permanently close its doors post-Christmas, with no final closure date specified yet. A spokesperson linked the decision to the poor state of the building and the hefty costs associated with bringing it up to par. Philippa Nibbs, Primark’s director of sales for the South and South East, stated: “Following careful consideration, we’re proposing to close our Dartford store in the new year.”
She added: “This proposal has been informed by the significant and extensive repair work the building requires. Given its close proximity to two other Primark stores, the level of investment it needs simply isn’t viable.” The company assured that the store will continue to operate for now, with further updates to be provided when available.
