Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have given fans a major hint they’re not ready to cut ties with the UK as they hired an important member of staff.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from the Royal Family four years ago and have since developed a strained relationship with The Firm. Despite this, they’ve appointed a new communications executive who is based in the UK.

Charlie Gipson has joined the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as a communications executive. Charlie will be taking on the role of Director of Communications and working as the main point of contact for UK press.

Kyle Boulia has also joined team Sussex. Kyle is the new Deputy Press Secretary and Director of Communications for US media.

Kyle and Charlie join the wider team, including former director of global communications Miranda Barbot who is now vice president of programs and media operations. Ashley Hansen remains the overarching Head of Communications for Harry and Meghan and their company Archewell.

Harry and Meghan’s new link to the UK comes after the Duke of Sussex has spoken openly about his desires to return to the UK. During an appearance on Good Morning America, he said: “My family and my life in California is as it is.

“I have got other trips planned. That would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”

Harry previously returned to the UK to visit King Charles after the monarch was diagnosed with cancer. Harry is scheduled to return once again next month for a celebration of the Invictus Games.

A special service will held in St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the sporting event, which was set up by Harry in 2014. The Duke of Sussex is believed to be delivering a speech at the event. It’s currently unclear if he will be joined by his wife.
