Arsenal have several injury concerns facing the side after their win against Brentford, with Declan Rice and Cristhian Mosquera the latest concerns for Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal’s injury concerns are showing little sign of easing as yet more issues have appeared for Mikel Arteta and his squad. The Gunners have had spells without some of their key players this season, with many of those stars recently making their way back into contention.

However, just as things start to ease, the manager gets hit with a combination of fresh issues. Gabriel Magalhaes’ thigh injury was compounded by a knock for William Saliba, leaving the head coach without his first-choice centre-back pairing.

That’s on top of absences for Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz in the forward line, but the concerns don’t stop there. In Arsenal’s win over Brentford, Cristhian Mosquera and Declan Rice were both forced off through injury, leaving some doubts hanging over their availability ahead of a busy fixture schedule.

So, even though the Gunners have another three points to their tally, attention turns the players who will be fit and available for the weekend’s clash with Aston Villa and beyond. With that said, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal injury news and potential return dates.

Declan Rice

Declan Rice went to ground late in the game against Brentford, looking in some visible discomfort. The midfielder pointed towards his calf when speaking to the medical staff, appearing to gesture the issue was there.

Mikel Arteta was unable to shed any light on the severity of the injury, leaving him as a doubt for the weekend’s clash with Aston Villa.

What Arteta has said: “Yes, obviously it’s never good news. Declan had to come off. We don’t know. We have to see tomorrow what he’s got.”

Predicted return date: Unknown.

Cristhian Mosquera

Another injury concern from the Brentford game came for Cristhian Mosquera. The Arsenal defender appeared to suffer an ankle issue, after challenging for a ball in the air and landing in an awkward fashion.

What Arteta has said: “And Mosquera is the other one that is out. Obviously we have big Gabi [Gabriel Magalhaes] and Willy [William Saliba] out as well. So we have to adapt. It’s been a theme of this season. But when I look at the players, they haven’t been playing much.”

Predicted return date: Unknown.

William Saliba

William Saliba was a surprise absence for the Chelsea game, as he seemingly picked up a knock in training that saw him miss out. He was also missing for the clash with Brentford, with uncertainty surrounding exactly when he could be back in action.

What Arteta has said: “Obviously we have big Gabi [Gabriel Magalhaes] and Willy [William Saliba] out as well. So we have to adapt.”

Predicted return date: Aston Villa (A) – December 6.

Leandro Trossard

Leandro Trossard picked up a calf issue in the first half of the Bayern Munich game and has been out of action ever since. There is some optimism that he will be back soon, however.

What Arteta has said: Matter of days as well.”

Predicted return date: Aston Villa (A) – December 6.

Gabriel Magalhaes

Another defensive injury concern comes for Gabriel Magalhaes, who picked up a thigh issue while on international duty with Brazil in November. There is an expectation that the defender will be out for one to two months, meaning he won’t be back until just before the new year at the very earliest.

What Arteta has said: “Obviously we have big Gabi [Gabriel Magalhaes] and Willy [William Saliba] out as well. So we have to adapt.”

Predicted return date: December 2025.

Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz has been missing since the first match of the season, when it was clear that he needed to undergo a procedure on his knee. While that was successful, it has taken some time for the forward to get back up to speed, with there still being some time before he will be back playing again.

What Arteta has said: “Matter of weeks; let’s see how it evolves in the next few weeks. He’s doing really well, he’s doing stuff on the pitch, but I think he needs some time.”

Predicted return date: December 2025.
