Tottenham star Richarlison and Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes have engaged in a jovial back-and-fourth following the latest North London Derby between the two.
A Pape Matar Sarr lob from the halfway line just before half time decided the contest and though it was not a competitive fixture, there was an edge to the game and Spurs will likely be delighted with the victory.
Despite dominating possession, it was the Lilywhites who arguably had the better opportunities.
Pedro Porro and Wilson Odobert struck the post in the opening 45 minutes before Micky van de Ven fired a header wide. On the whole, lead by Cristian Romer, Spurs defended very well and were quite aggressive in the tackle with Kudus setting that precedent from the front.
Thomas Frank was asked about the former in his post-match press conference with the Spurs boss very pleased by his display. “I think he was really good today, Kudus,” Frank said. “His hold-up play, the way he takes hold of the ball in tricky situations. His one-vs-one skills, his creating opportunities for the team was top class.
“On top of that I think he’s working extremely hard and there was was recovery run from a set piece when he was straining all the way back and he won the ball back. That’s how he can help the team so much.
“He will make a lot of the fans excited with his offensive actions and he will also help the team defensively.”
Richarlison however, seemingly struggled to get into the game with the Brazil international also somehow failing to direct a Pedro Porro corner, that struck the upright, into the back of the net despite practically being on the goal line.
He certainly knew it was a derby though, with several cheeky actions completed and that continued after the final whistle.
On Instagram, holding the man of the match award and the Herbalgy trophy, that Spurs won by beating Arsenal, Richarlison tagged Gabriel in the post which had the eyes emoji as the caption.
The Arsenal star, out with the squad in Asia but still not ready to return after suffering a hamstring injury back in April, replied almost immediately. On his Instagram story, he uploaded a photo of his three player of the match awards he has won from games against Spurs in the Premier League.
While there may have been a bit of seriousness to the messages, given the rivalry between Arsenal and Spurs, it is likely to just be in jest with the duo appearing as close friends due to both being Brazil internationals.
