Arsenal have been told a potential timeline for a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo this summer, with the club possibly having the play the waiting game.

The Brazilian has been named as a target for the Gunners in the current summer transfer window as they look to add a left-winger to their squad before the September 1 deadline. Arsenal have been linked with several players including Nico Williams and Noni Madueke.

However, journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Rodrygo is seen as the ‘perfect fit’ and ‘dream’ left wing option by the club.

The winger is currently out in the United States with Real Madrid as they take part in the Club World Cup. He has however been named on the bench for the last three games , and and an unused substitute in two of those matches.

Jacobs says that Rodrygo will hold talks with manager Xabi Alonso once the team are back from the tournament, those talks will clarify his future. It is, however, said that Real are prepared to sanction a sale for a fee of around €90 million (£77.2m).

Depending on how far Real Madrid go in the tournament will therefore depend on how long Arsenal may have to wait to make their move. The club are in quarter-final action against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday (9pm kick-off).

If they get through that game then they will play the semi-final on either Tuesday 8 July or Wednesday 9 July (8pm). The final is then held on Sunday, 13 July with kick-off at 8pm.

Arsenal could therefore have a couple more weeks to wait before a final decision is made on Rodrygo’s future.
