An update has emerged on the future of Real Madrid star Rodrygo amid reported interest from Arsenal.

Rodrygo has emerged as a potential transfer target for the Gunners over the last few weeks, with speculation about the Brazilian’s future continuing to swirl as the summer transfer window opens.

Arsenal are yet to complete their first signing of the summer but are already being linked with several potential new players, most of whom are in the forward areas.

The Gunners are looking to complete deals for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga as their first moves of the summer.

Elsewhere, though, it’s Rodrygo whose name has been regularly mentioned on the Arsenal rumour mill and now a fresh update has emerged on the 24-year-old’s future.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal are “keeping an eye” on Rodrygo’s future after the forward is said to have been “unhappy” with his situation at Madrid following the conclusion of last season.

However, the report goes on to say that Rodrygo’s attitude has been “positive” in training with Madrid as they prepare to feature at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States under new manager Xabi Alonso.

It’s also been reported that Rodrygo’s agent is not expected to hold talks about the player’s future despite reported interest from Arsenal.

Real will begin their Club World Cup campaign against Al-Hilal on Wednesday at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

What role Rodrygo has to play in that game, in what will be Alonso’s first match in charge, could offer a hint as to what may happen with the Arsenal target’s future.

A week ago, Rodrygo took to social media platform Instagram, declaring himself ‘happy’ and thus offering a potential hint as to his true feelings on a move.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Athletic Club star Nico Williams over the last few months.

However, reports in recent days have claimed that Barcelona are now the most likely destination for the Spain international this summer.
